CAROL ALBERT SETS A JOYFUL,
OPTIMISTIC TONE FOR 2024 WITH
A BLAZE OF “SUNSHINE YELLOW,”
HER INFECTIOUS LATIN-TINGED
SINGLE FEATURING GUITARIST
Riding high on the momentum of the three Top 5 Billboard singles from her album Magic Mirror that dominated contemporary jazz radio throughout 2022-23, multi-talented pianist/composer Carol Albert sets a purposefully hopeful tone for 2024 with her latest track, soothing all the chaos and anxiety of the world with an infectious burst of “Sunshine Yellow.”
Sunshine Yellow, the vibrant Latin-influenced pop tune – follow-up to her recent bossa-flavored single “Sol Ipanema” – features the exciting interaction of Carol’s piano and the snappy trademark acoustic guitar of guest artist Peter White over the exotic, high-spirited grooving of Roberto Vally and drummer Lil John Roberts.
“This song has a really nice, easy, very melodic flow to it,” Carol says. “I wrote it with the vision of a romantic, passionate, flamenco-ish dancing couple on the beach on a sunny day, just having fun and being joyful and freeTo me, ‘Sunshine Yellow’ represents a warmth, a clear day when all is in focus and everything seems right with the world.”
Peter White’s feature on the song happened serendipitously. Carol had contacted Euge Groove about the possibility of mixing and mastering “Sushine Yellow”. Euge loved the song and was available and he began right away. Euge told her she should get Peter White to play guitar on it. She was ecstatic at the idea, and Euge reached out to White, who vibed with the song immediately. Proving that timing is everything, the guitarist recorded his parts in his home studio the day before he left for his annual Christmas tour.
“Peter White, Euge Groove, Roberto Vally and Lil John Roberts on this track provided a stellar lineup of artists. They all took the song from very good to absolutely amazing! Carol played piano and programmed the keyboards and synths for a distinctive unique sound. Brazilian Guitarist Sander Pinheiro provided rhythm guitar on the track as well,” Carol says. “They all added their own distinctive flavor to the song. It was a matter of one thing leading to another and everything happening the way it was meant to.”
Carol’s recent success with the singles from Magic Mirror follows on the similarly high charting heels of four hit radio singles from her 2020 album Stronger Now, which also included three Top 5’s - “Stronger Now,” “Perfect Sunday” and “Femme Flight,” the latter of which featured flutist Ragan Whiteside and saxophonist Magdalena Chovancova and earned Carol a new legion of fans via extensive airplay on SiriusXM’s Watercolors. In addition to their success at radio, “Perfect Sunday” and “Stronger Now” have achieved unprecedented streaming numbers for the smooth jazz genre, with “Perfect Sunday” currently at 10 M streams and “Stronger Now” at nearly 3M on Spotify.
