As 2023 has come to a close I take a moment to pause and reflect. What would I like to share about my life? What’s been going on? What are my personal triumphs? What can I be proud of?
There are many professional accomplishments through my music with my Album “Magic Mirror”. The Single “Magic Mirror” celebrated enormous success on Radio Formats including Sirius XM Watercolors airplay and Year End Chart Reports for Top Songs of the Year. Billboard placed it at #36 Song of the Year, Smooth Jazz Network at #10 Song of the Year; SmoothJazz.com placed the Album at the #2 Album of the Year. Spotify and Apple music continue to stream significant numbers from my catalogue. Almost 10 million on “Perfect Sunday”, 3 Million for “Stronger Now” with “Fire & Water” added to a big playlist and already over 1 Million. Apple added “Magic Mirror” and already has extensive play on “Sun’s Out” and “Fly Away Butterfly”. While “Magic Mirror” has been riding the wave of Contemporary Jazz Radio I’ve continued writing and recording new music. In February 2023, I recorded a new tune with Paul Brown in Los Angeles when I attended the Grammys 2023. It was great working with Paul again at Carmen Grille’s studio playing on his Yamaha C3. The Grammys provided me a chance to see old friends and make new ones at networking events surrounding the Grammys. I was asked to Perform at the Berks Festival in Reading, PA and also to be an Educator in the Berks Arts Jazz Educational Series for High School Students during the Festival Week. It was a great experience and also lots of fun. There were other fun Events that I performed at in the Spring and Summer; WSIE Virtual Performance (St Louis), Lake Oconee Wine & Jazz Festival (Ritz Carlton), Rialto Club Theater (Athens, GA) Battle of Bryon, Festival (South GA), Mountain Brook Jazz Festival (North Carolina), Elmira Jazz Festival (New York), Grayson City Amphitheater, Suwanee Dam Dinner (GA), Women of Jazz, Lyman Center, (New Haven Connecticut). In July “Time Sensitive”, a Classical Recording from my Georgia State Senior Concert that I found in storage and restored was released in Digital and CD Format. It has works from Bach, Schubert, Brahms, and Prokofieff and is on all streaming sites as well as my web store. It was great to work on Greg Chambers new Single “Just Feels Right” as a Featured Artist in August.. It has been received very well with Sirius XM Watercolors and other Radio Airplay. “Sol Ipanema” also went to Radio in September and had a great run on Smooth Jazz Radio Formats. The new Single “Sunshine Yellow” featuring Peter White is set for release January 26, 2024. Work is continuing on other new songs as well working with Roberto Vally, Paul Brown, Dennis Johnson, Ragan Whiteside, Paula Atherton and more for a new Album release. Personally I’ve been staying healthy, getting out more socially with friends, walking and hiking a lot, making new friends and driving a 16 year old around. While I didn’t go on any major vacations this year I spent a lot of quiet time in the mountains, with family and my dogs. I’m extremely grateful for all the love and support from my fans, radio programmers and listeners and friends. Without this support it wouldn’t be possible to continue writing and recording my music. There will be more details in the upcoming months of new shows, events and new works during 2024. Until the next one, Much Love, Carol Spring has sprung to a set of new possibilities and a renewal after the long winter. New ventures are on the horizon for me. I will be performing June 18 at the Elkhart Jazz Festival in Elkhart, Indiana as well as an event in Birmingham, Alabama July 4. Catalina Island Jazz Trax Festival is on and I will be there the 2nd weekend of October. Stay tuned as well for updated events as they are confirmed. Music venues continue to open back up and Festivals are on for the summer. The Single released in April “For The Moment” debuted on Billboard Most Added in the 1st week to Radio and Most Increased plays in the 2nd week. The response has been very positive to the video on UTube and Radio outlets. I am also continuing my composing of new music for a new Album to be released. Also stay tuned for updates on new songs as they are released On a personal note, I have enjoyed a beautiful spring in Atlanta. There’s an air of optimism and growth all around. I have been able to get out and see my friends and catch up with my family since I received the Covid Vaccine. Many activities I enjoy doing have resumed with an air of caution. For the many who are still struggling with the effects of Covid, I send my love and thoughts to continue on this healing journey to full recovery. I’m grateful for the amount of support this past year for my Album “Stronger Now” and hope to be in your city to perform soon and meet you all. Much love,
Carol Summer is in full swing but like so many other people I have not taken a vacation, travelled, performed or enjoyed my usual summer fanfare. My 4th of July was spent at home watching fireworks on TV and burning sparklers in my back yard. While this summer has been so different from all my other summers I have found hope lying in so many hidden aspects of my life. I have hope for the future. I have hope that as an Artist I can tap into this experience and create my best work yet. I have hope and inspiration from my daily surroundings from my garden, nature and family. I have hope due to the innovations and creativity that has risen in all facets of life from this time. My biggest hope is that we can learn from this and treat others with more kindness, respect and love. With some extra time on my hands I have had a renewed interest in history. Looking back through history I’m reminded of the despair and unbearable events humans have suffered throughout the ages through disease, tyrants, incredible cruelty, wars, but also the hope in the human spirit that has allowed survival and renewal. Music continues to provide inspiration, healing, and unification. I continue to write and practice and hope to be able to share with you in the future through performances and new recordings. As tough as this time has been, it has also been a time of hope. I want to close with my latest video “Love Again” from my new Album Stronger Now which embraces this theme Hope and Love. Much love, Carol Silver LiningsDuring April and May “Stronger Now” Single continued to be in the Top 20 Billboard Smooth Jazz Chart and is currently on its 16th week , Top 10 MediaBase for 16 weeks peaking at #1, Top 5 Smooth Jazz Network and Smooth Jazz Global, #2 Groove Jazz and RadioWave the week of May 25th. Many positive personal comments have been made on my UTube Video of Stronger Now as well as increased listeners on Radio Outlets, 75.8K listeners on Spotify for May , Apple Music and others. My Album Stronger Now and Merch is available directly from the Official Store by clicking here. While I haven’t performed during this period due to Lockdowns and postponed events, I have been booked for Catalina Island Jazz Trax Festival for the closing weekend October 18 http://jazztrax.com/ , Re-booked for Elkhardt Jazz Festival June 2021, and have other dates soon to be announced. My students have continued to take piano lessons via Facetime. I was able to have a Spring Piano Recital via Zoom. It hasn’t been an easy time but there are some Silver Linings. Several families had relatives all over the world to tune in via Zoom for the Recital which was a new experience for all of us and made the families very happy. On a personal note, I have had some time to catch up with my family, my home and garden, and some friends on Facetime and Zoom. I also have a new puppy named Marigold. She and Zeno have had lots of attention and play all the time. We have enjoyed some walks along the river trail and other outdoor trails. As Summer approaches we’re faced with continuing challenges. I continue to write at home and have several projects I’m working on. Stay safe.
Much love, Carol July has flown by with lots of happenings. “Sun’s Out”, my new Smooth Jazz Radio Single, was Released the Week of July 8. It was the #1 Most Added the 1st week and Most Increased Plays for the past two weeks. The response from “Sun’s Out” has been very positive. “Her latest single, “Sun’s Out” will give you a vision of an exotic beach with that perfect coastal breeze. Yes, I’ll have a Pina Colada!”...Brenda Lorenzo, Beat Atlanta Online Magazine I also decided to take a little detour on the way to my scheduled performance in Waterbury, Connecticut July 6 at the Brass City Jazz Fest through New York City for a few days. It was a great experience to take a Ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on the 4th of July and see Fireworks off the Harbor of the Hudson River. I also went to the Empire State Building, One World Trace Center, walked through Central Park and saw “The Lion King” Broadway Play. It was great to walk everywhere to offset all the fabulous food. New York City never disappoints with sights and Events. It was also announced that “FEMME FLIGHT” received an Official HMMA Award in the Jazz Division, 2019. The finals will be announced in November, 2019 in none other than Hollywood, California. The Atlanta Chapter of the Recording Academy held its Summer Celebration Meet and Greet. It was great hearing some new music Performances and running into so many Professional music friends. My new 5 month old puppy, Zeno, continues to get bigger every day and he is absolutely adorable. July 2019 - wow! Carol Albert May/April 2019 WOW!! What a whirlwind spring it’s been. April flew by too quickly. The April 12 show in Las Vegas at Myron’s Cabaret Jazz at the Smith Center was a huge success. I had a stellar band with Ragan Whiteside as guest Artist, Joseph Patrick Moore, Chris Harris, Carlos Mata-Alvarez, and Wayne Viar. We had a Standing Ovation and cheers for more at the conclusion of the show. While I was in Las Vegas Ragan and I visited and conducted an Interview with KUNV Radio Station in Las Vegas with Kim Linzy and Steve Edwards. We had a great time meeting the staff at the Station and sharing some laughter. It was also great seeing my friend Myron Martin, Founder of the Smith Center, at my show (read more about it here). I came back to Atlanta and started on my City Winery Show for May 9. It was great fun having Justin Rogers shoot some video and seeing some of my old friends at the Show. I debuted some of my new songs during the show as well as played some of my older songs. It was great to see such a positive reception of my new material. I continue to perform at Chateau Elan on weekends that I’m not travelling and work on my new recordings. I’m also looking forward to my upcoming show at Jazz in the Park June 9 at Birmingham, Alabama and Brass City Jazz Fest July 6 in Waterbury Connecticut. If you live in one of those areas drop by and make sure you say hello to me. I’m beyond grateful that “FemmeFlight” is on its 8th week on Billboard and has reached the Top 5 this week. For those who know me this is an incredible dream I had given up on years ago. Keep the faith and pursue your dreams with focus and hard work. It takes a village and appreciate the contributions of Ragan Whiteside, Magdalena Chovancova, Paul Brown, Nathaniel Kearney Jr, Jay Williams-Music, J Curtis McCain, Jason Gorov and Gorov Music Marketing, Allen W Kepler, Dennis Johnson, Thom TK Kidd and all the radio programmers who have supported the track. - Carol Albert
February has been a whirlwind month full of rewards and challenges. I went to California February 8 and performed at the El Portal Theatre with Dale Edwards on Congas, Vito Gregoli on Guitar, and Brian Sargent on shakers. It was great fun to perform a new composition “Sun’s Out” which will go on my new Album, 2019, in such a beautiful theatre and a grand piano. I recorded with Producer, Paul Brown while I was in California as well. We worked on my new track “I Am Fine” which will also be included in my new Album. Roberto Vally played bass and I cut vocals and acoustic piano to the tracks I had previously recorded in Georgia in my home studio. I was fortunate to get tickets to the Grammys 2019 and was accompanied by Paul Brown. It was a great experience seeing some of my IndieCollab friends and colleagues receive Grammys this year. I ran into a lot of musician friends while I was there and it was great to catch up. The excitement, the experience, and the music was one for the record book. My new single “Femme Flight” has taken off since January and reached Top 10 status and as of today, it is #9 on Billboard, #9 MediaBase USA, #9 Smooth Jazz Top 20. It’s rewarding to have such a great reception for the Track which features Ragan Whiteside, Magdalena Chovancova with players Nathaniel Kearney, Jay Williams, Curtis McCain and mixed by Paul Brown. As February closes I am challenged to write and record new material for my Album which is starting to come together. My Las Vegas Show is coming up April 12 at the Smith Center, and I’ve added Ragan Whiteside as a Guest Artist with bandmates Joseph Patrick Moore, Chris Harris, and Wayne Viar. And in between it all I’m “doing life“ with my family in Atlanta.
